Vessels in obdurate nephrite, were undoubtedly the most labor intensive and precious material wasting than any other product carved in this medium.  And compared to solid 3-D or flat objects in jade, the surface area requiring decorative or pictorial carving  and polishing was also more demanding.  Vessels, therefore, would have undoubtedly been the most costly and highly prized, and their commissioning would have surely come from the highest echelons of wealth and power – and their usage ceremonial or very high occasion.
